Last November, I was unpleasantly surprised with the news that The Civil Wars had broken up, citing “irreconcilable differences.” They are truly two people who were made to sing together. I don’t know the details of their break-up, although the internet is abuzz with theories, most of them smutty because their chemistry is palpable.
The good news is that they’ve either dealt with their issues, or they are contractually obligated to give us a little more (that sounds pervy, I don’t mean it that way) and they are releasing a new album in August. The First single, “The One That Got Away” definitely won’t quiet the rumors surrounding them.
I highly recommend that you watch their covers of both “Sour Times” by Portishead and also “Billie Jean” by Michael Jackson. But for me, it doesn’t get any better than their version of Leonard Cohen’s “Dance Me To The End Of Love”
