Thank God it’s the weekend. This week needs to end. There is still a crazy manhunt going on in Boston and today marks the anniversary of The Oklahoma City Bombing, which cast a pall over the end of my senior year of High School in Oklahoma; killing 168 (including my brother’s dear friend, Julie) and changing forever how I saw the world. Oklahoma, was of course a domestic terror act by two lunatics who were avenging what they saw as injustice done by the FBI at the Branch Davidian complex in Waco two years before. Currently near Waco, the town of West, Texas is burned horribly in what is hopefully just a tragic accident and not a criminal act. Not a very cheerful day. And yet, a day to be treasured nonetheless because we are not promised tomorrow. Today is what we get.
With OKC in mind today, I give you the Flaming Lips, “Do You Realize?”
let them know
You realize that life goes fast
It’s hard to make the good things last
You realize the sun doesn’t go down
It’s just an illusion caused by the world spinning round
